…I kept traveling, and I traveled alone. I spent the rest of the money I had saved up, and then some. I traveled longer and farther than I ever thought I would or could. I felt every emotion I’ve ever known and more. I learned to trust myself and to respond to my instincts like never before. I re-defined my boundaries before I realized what I was doing. And while I traveled, I wrote about everything…
This blog is about travels and adventures and the random thoughts that stream in between. Big-picture style, this blog is the back-story for a book (dare I say a “tell-all” memoir?) about even bigger travels and bigger adventures. Welcome to my Grand Plan!
The blog and the book, both of which are works-in-progress, respectively tell the stories of my travels through South America with my boyfriend at the time (the blog), and my solo travels through Southeast Asia and India (the book). On this blog, I’m posting emails and photos that I sent out from the road in South America. I’m also posting stories to “fill in the blanks” between the emails, which are posted here exactly as they were when I sent them out from the road (misspellings, embarrassing confessions, and all!), except that I’ve changed a few names to preserve anonymity (and friendships!).
After South America, I traveled on my own for about eight more months, making my way through Southeast Asia and India. I wrote a lot more while I was traveling solo, and those are the stories I’m now developing into a book. My travels with Jax (the ex-boyfriend) aren’t really part of the book; of course I talk about Jax in the book, as he had a lot to do with how I ended up where and when I did, but the solo journey is just such a different kind of story that I feel it deserves its own credits and introduction and covers. It’s just different.
My great hopes and Grand Plan for this blog is to gradually post all of my stories about my travels with Jax while I also continue to finish my book. Ideally, the two projects will come to fruition at the same time, in a tidy little circular process. The stories in my book are told in the present-tense, so the writing styles used in the blog versus the book are a little different, but they’re both inspired by a pure love of travel and adventure.
I hope you’ll enjoy the stories on this blog and someday soon, I hope you’ll also enjoy the stories in my book! Please come back soon, as I’ll be posting stories often, and feel free to shoot me an email. Happy reading, and happy travels!
